SoftActivate Licensing Is Now in Public Beta
· SoftActivate Technical Staff
Our cloud licensing service is live in public beta: create an account, define products, mint and activate licenses with the free client SDK for C++, C#, and VB.NET - complete with floating licenses, offline activation, subscriptions, and full documentation.
Today we are opening the SoftActivate Licensing beta to everyone. The full product is live: you can create an account, define your products and license templates, mint licenses, and activate them from your own applications with the free client SDK - all against our production service.
This is the complete product, not a preview build. "Beta" means one thing: we are actively collecting feedback before general availability, and we want yours.
What is SoftActivate Licensing?
SoftActivate Licensing is a cloud licensing service for software vendors. You define products and license policies in a web console; your application embeds our client SDK and activates licenses against the service. There is nothing for you to host, patch, or scale.
What's in the box today:
- A web console for products, licenses, orders, subscriptions, reporting, and team management - with a sandbox mode for consequence-free experimentation.
- A free client SDK for C++, C#, and VB.NET, on Windows and Linux, with a Getting Started tool that walks you from install to first activation in minutes.
- The licensing feature set you actually need: online activation with hardware fingerprinting, floating (concurrent-seat) licenses, offline activation for air-gapped machines, subscription and perpetual models, license revocation with CRLs, and cryptographically signed license certificates - countersigned with an RFC 3161 timestamp so validations stay trustworthy over time.
- Full documentation, including quickstarts for both language stacks that you can run end to end against the live service.
- Straightforward pricing with a 14-day trial on every paid tier - and everything is free to explore with a demo account before you subscribe.
How to try it
- Download the SDK - free, no account required for evaluation: the built-in demo credentials activate against a shared demo tenant so you can see a real activation before you sign up.
- Create an account - during the beta, new accounts are activated after a quick review, usually the same day.
- Follow a quickstart in the documentation - C++ or C#/VB.NET, from zero to a validated license certificate.
A few honest beta notes
- During the beta, SDK installer packages are published ahead of code signing; a signed installer replaces each release shortly after. Checksums are published with every download.
- New accounts go through a brief manual review before activation - this keeps the shared service healthy while we scale up.
- Found something rough? That is exactly what the beta is for: tell us through the contact form and you will hear back from the people who built it.
We have spent the last months building the service, the SDK, and the documentation as one product. Now it is your turn to put it through its paces.
